Delete it yourself, in the app
- Open Coviva and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm. The account is deleted straight away and you are signed out.
Or ask us to do it
If you cannot get into the app — you lost access to your mailbox, or the app will not install — email us and we will delete the account for you.
Use this route as well if you want your group contributions removed and not only anonymized — see section 4.
What is deleted
Erased immediately, in both routes above:
- Your sign-in credentials: your email address, every active session, and any outstanding one-time codes.
- Your display name, bio and profile photo. The name is replaced with "Deleted user" and the photo file is removed from storage.
- Any location you had shared with a group.
- Your push notification token and notification settings, so your device stops receiving anything.
- Any reports you had filed.
Places you had published to the public Explore feed are switched back to private, so they leave the feed.
What is kept, and for how long
Coviva is a shared app, so deletion is not a clean sweep of everything you ever typed. What you contributed to a group stays with that group — messages you sent, expenses you entered or paid, documents you uploaded, checklist items, poll votes and places you added.
They stay so the rest of the group keeps a usable trip: silently removing an expense would change what everyone else owes. They carry no name, photo, bio or email — they appear as belonging to "Deleted user" and cannot be traced back to you from the app.
| What | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Your account and profile data | Deleted immediately |
| Anonymized group content you posted | As long as the group exists. When the last member leaves, the group and everything in it is deleted automatically. |
| Photos you sent in chat | 30 days from upload, then deleted from storage automatically |
| Documents and receipt images you uploaded | 365 days from upload, then deleted from storage automatically |
| Server request logs (IP, timestamp) | A short period at our hosting providers, then discarded on their routine schedule |
Your other rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have under the GDPR — alongside access, rectification, restriction, objection and portability. The privacy policy covers all of them, and section 9 there describes this deletion in full.
