Who you're agreeing with
Coviva is operated by Patrik Šťastný, an individual based in the Slovak Republic ("Coviva", "we", "us"). You can reach us at info@coviva.app.
These terms are the agreement between you and us for the use of the Coviva app. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. If you don't, the app isn't for you — and that's fine.
How we handle your personal data is a separate document: the Privacy Policy. It forms part of this agreement.
Who can use Coviva
You need to be at least 16 years old. Coviva is not built for children, and we don't knowingly keep accounts belonging to anyone younger.
You may browse the public Explore feed without an account. Joining a group, adding places, liking, chatting and everything else requires signing in.
Your account
There is no password. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, which means whoever controls that mailbox controls your Coviva account. Keep it secure, and tell us if you think someone else has got into it.
- One account per person. Don't share it, and don't sign in as someone else.
- Use a name that doesn't impersonate another person or organization.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account.
What Coviva is — and isn't
Coviva is a planning tool for a group of people traveling together. It is not a travel agency, a payment provider, or an archive. Four things worth being explicit about:
| Feature | What it actually is |
|---|---|
| Expense splitting | A shared ledger. Coviva records who paid what and calculates who owes whom — no money moves through the app, we never hold funds, and we take no part in whether anyone actually pays up. Debts between members are between members. |
| Documents | Convenient shared storage for the trip, not a backup service. Files are deleted on a schedule (see the Privacy Policy). Keep your own copy of anything that matters. |
| AI-generated tips | Suggestions produced by a language model. They can be out of date or simply wrong. Check anything that would cost you money or time to get wrong. |
| Maps, places and weather | Supplied by third parties and by other users. We don't verify that a place exists, is open, or is safe. |
Your content
Everything you write and upload stays yours. We claim no ownership of your messages, photos, documents, places or notes.
To actually run the app, you give us permission to store your content, and to show it to the people you shared it with — the members of your group, or, if you publish a place, everyone using Coviva. This permission is free of charge, worldwide for as long as you keep the content in the app, and exists only so the app can work. We don't use your content to advertise, and we don't license it to anyone else.
You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload — that the photo is yours to share, and that a document doesn't expose someone who never agreed to it.
If you delete your account, your contributions to a group stay with that group, unattributed. Section 9 of the Privacy Policy explains exactly what is erased and what remains, and how to ask for the rest.
Rules of the road
Don't use Coviva to:
- break the law, or help anyone else do it;
- harass, threaten, bully or stalk another person;
- post hateful content targeting people for who they are;
- post sexual content involving minors — ever, in any form;
- impersonate another person, or misrepresent who you are;
- publish someone else's personal data, or a photo of them, without their agreement;
- spam, advertise, or publish places you have no genuine connection to in order to promote them;
- upload malware, or anything designed to break someone's device;
- scrape the app, hammer our servers, work around rate limits or storage quotas, or reverse-engineer how it works;
- try to reach data that isn't yours, including other people's groups.
Group chat is not end-to-end encrypted, and we can technically read it — see the Privacy Policy. We don't go looking, but we will look at specific content when we have to act on a report or a legal obligation.
Moderation
Anyone can report a published place or a user profile from inside the app. We review reports and may remove content, unpublish a place, or suspend or delete an account that breaks the rules in section 6.
We aim to act proportionately: a first mistake usually means the content goes, not the account. Serious cases — anything involving minors, credible threats, or a court order — mean the account goes immediately.
If you think we got it wrong, email info@coviva.app and tell us why. A real person will read it.
Availability and limits
Coviva is free and provided as it is, with no promised uptime. We may change features, add limits, or discontinue parts of the app. If we ever shut the service down entirely, we will give you reasonable notice in the app so you can get your content out.
Current technical limits, which we may adjust:
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Photo upload | 10 MB per image |
| Document upload | 20 MB per file |
| Documents per group | 100 MB total |
| AI tips | One generation per group per day |
| Sign-in codes | Rate-limited per email address |
Photos in chat are deleted after 30 days and documents after 365 days — the Privacy Policy has the full retention table.
Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time: leave your groups, or delete your account outright in Profile → edit profile → delete account. No notice, no reason needed.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we're legally required to, or if keeping your account running would put other users at risk. Except in serious cases we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
When the last member leaves a group, the group and everything in it is deleted automatically.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for intentional harm or gross negligence, or for anything else that Slovak or EU law does not allow to be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer stay intact.
Within those bounds, and because Coviva is provided free of charge:
- We are not liable for content posted by other users, or for what happens between members of a group — including unpaid debts.
- We are not liable for a trip going wrong: a missed flight, a closed restaurant, a place that turned out to be nothing like its photo, or a tip from the AI that was out of date.
- We are not liable for content lost because it hit a retention limit, or because a service we depend on failed. Keep your own copies.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Slovak Republic. If you are a consumer resident in another EU or EEA country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your own country — this choice of law cannot take those away.
If something goes wrong, email us first. Most things get resolved that way. If they don't, a consumer in Slovakia may also turn to the Slovak Trade Inspection Authority (Slovenská obchodná inšpekcia) as an alternative dispute resolution body, and everyone keeps the right to go to the competent court.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms — for new features, or because the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. For changes that matter to you, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect. If you don't agree with a change, delete your account; continuing to use Coviva means you accept it.
